OVERVIEW
We are now registering parents to attend an information meeting and school tour as the first step of the application process. Meetings/tours are scheduled weekly and are unique to the lower school and to the middle school. While visiting with us, parents hear an overview of the school and receive information about our curriculum; they tour classrooms, and end with a session of questions and answers.
We are holding a series of Open Houses and events for families interested in learning more about Park Day School. Please take note of the following:
We've held our all-school Open House on November 6.
SUNDAY DECEMBER 4 - A social gathering for all families: Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion. We encourage parents of children of color, LGBTQ families, and allies to attend for parent-to-parent conversations about what you're looking for in a school. Current Park Day families will be on campus. 11:00 - 12:30
SUNDAY DECEMBER 11 - Middle School Open House 1:00 - 3:00
SUNDAY JANUARY 8 - Middle School Open House 1:00 3:00

At Park Day School, we believe that "the right school" is one in which a child learns best,
where the educational approach is valued by the family, and where the
family feels a sense of belonging. We believe the key to choosing the right school is to remember that there is not one school that is the right match for everyone.
To reflect our wider community, admissions decisions are made with an eye toward creating a vibrant student body that represents diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, family compositions, gender identities, sexual orientation, and racial identities. Children with diverse learning styles and needs are part of the mosaic of each classroom.
As part of the process, we do not formally test children upon application, nor do we require standardized test results. When children visit the school, which is a component of the application process, they are observed in group interaction as well as in quiet time by themselves. The teacher and a learning specialist spend time in conversation and specific assessment activities with each child.
To be eligible for kindergarten application for the 2012-13 school year, a child must be five years old by September 1, 2012.To be eligible for our bridge-kindergarten program, a child must be five years old by December 2, 2012.
For a more detailed understanding of the school and to tour classrooms, parents of children eligible for the upcoming school year should pre-register for one of the scheduled information meetings and tours that begin in October. Parents need to call the school admissions office to register. Admissions information meetings and school tours are reserved for parents whose children are eligible for the 2012-13 school year. We would be happy to send an information packet about the school to a family at any time.
