COVID Safety Plan (CSP)

COVID-19 Safety Plan

COVID Symptoms & Exposure

In the event a member of our community is diagnosed with COVID-19, or if anyone in their household is diagnosed with COVID-19, please contact Cassandra McCraw.

    • In the case of ILLNESS or symptoms, please keep your student at home. If a student has symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough, shortness of breath, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of taste/smell, or runny nose (unless consistent with typical allergies), please have them test promptly
    • Returning to School after Sickness: any student with COVID-like symptoms should not return to work or school until symptoms are improving, there has been no fever for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medicines.
      • Completed any required quarantine.
      • Provide a negative test result or a healthcare provider note showing alternative diagnosis.
  • If a student tests positive for COVID:
    • Please contact the school to let us know.
    • Stay home for at least 5 days. (Note: Day 1 is the day following the day either you test positive or symptoms start.)
    • Isolation can end after Day 5 if symptoms are improving AND you or your student are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever reducing medication).
    • If fever is present, continue isolation until fever has resolved for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medications, such as Tylenol/ibuprofen).
    • If other symptoms are not resolving, continue to isolate until symptoms have resolved or until after Day 10.
    • If returning to campus prior to day 10, check in first thing in the morning with front office staff for a temperature check.
    • Wear a well-fitting mask around others and always indoors for a total of 10 days.
  • In the Event of a CONFIRMED POSITIVE CASE ON CAMPUS, the school will communicate with the grade and any close contacts.
  • Students with an EXPOSURE to someone with COVID-19 should (per ACPHD)
    • Take a COVID-19 test 3 to 5 days after being exposed or right away if they have symptoms.
    • Wear a well-fitting mask around others for a total of 10 days indoors. Monitor closely for any symptoms of illness for 10 days.
    • If they develop symptoms of illness, stay home and away from others until they take a test for COVID-19. If the first test is negative, wait 24 to 48 hours and take another test since some people with COVID-19 don’t test positive right away.
  • All students with an EXPOSURE to a HOUSEHOLD MEMBER with confirmed COVID-19 must quarantine for 5 days, regardless of vaccination status.  Have them take a COVID test 5 days after the household member’s positive test.  If that test is negative, they have no symptoms and have been isolated from the family member, the student may return to school 6 days after their last exposure.  Students must continue to mask indoors for an additional 5 days (10 days after exposure).

Vaccinations

  • Park Day School strongly recommends all eligible students be vaccinated against COVID-19 and remain up to date on boosters.
  • PDS strongly recommends all Students and community members be vaccinated against seasonal influenza prior to the start of flu season, to further protect our community against illness.
