One of the most eagerly anticipated events of the school year among Park Day students is our annual Read-a-Thon–a tradition since 1976! On Friday, May 17, students will transform their classrooms into cozy and creative reading spaces, welcome guest readers and local authors, and spend the day focused on the magic of the written word.

In addition to being a day of celebration, the Read-a-Thon is an important fundraiser for our school. Students collect pledges from friends and family around the globe as they read all day to raise funds to support Park Day School’s literacy program. Funds raised through the Read-a-Thon support our deep love of reading at Park Day. Some ways that literacy funds have been used in the past include:

  • Upgrading classroom libraries
  • Buying books for the Park Day School Banned Book Library
  • Supporting teachers with new structured literacy materials
  • Assisting Indexed Tuition program participants with literacy support and/or student evaluation above and beyond tuition

Everyone in our school community benefits from the robust literacy program at Park Day. If you would like to make a donation in honor of a student or grade, please click here to make a pledge.

Thank you for your support… and Happy Reading!
