Home Admissions Day in the Life of Kindergarten
Kindergartners share all about their daily routine and experiences at school.
Kindergartners can find a cozy start to their day in morning care as early as 7:30am. Class begins at 8:45am, and Kindergarten ends at 3:15pm. Learn more about Kindergarten readiness at Park Day School.
Walking independently into the classroom, students get a warm greeting from their teacher. We start the day with Morning Circle and Number Corner. Literacy and Math Centers come next.
Eat snack and have fun outside on the playground.
Groups go to Spanish or Learning Garden on select days. On other days, students attend Art, Music, PE, or Innovation Workshop. When not in specialist classes, students may have extended literacy time, writers’ workshop, or other academic explorations.
Hot lunch is delicious and made fresh on campus– about 60% of students participate and others bring their own lunch. We all sit outside with teachers who make sure everyone eats a nutritious amount before playtime.
Storytime and mindfulness settles us down after lunch. Then Project Centers, time with older reading buddies, Room Time (free time to create!), Nature Exploration, or Library.
School ends. Students going to the After School Activities Program (ASAP) walk there together to wind down time.
