Home Curriculum Physical Education
Park Day’s Physical Education program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to make active living part of their daily life. Students learn to try out new athletic skills and games that help strengthen healthy bodies and emotional well being. PE takes place twice a week K-8, and emphasizes a respect for others and self alongside a willingness to try new things.
Kindergarten Soccer
In our soccer introduction for kindergarten, students focus on the basics of the game. They practice overhead throw-ins, passing for accuracy, and the key steps of dribbling, passing, and scoring.
1st Grade Yoga
1st grade students learn breathing exercises & meditation, partner poses, and how to move through vinyasa!
4th Grade Basketball
In our March Madness unit, students explore the NCAA tournament and the impact of women in sports while playing 3v3 games and learning new games like Knockout. They build confidence, work on dribbling with and without defenders, improve shooting technique, and try new activities!
5th Grade Frisbee
In our Ultimate Frisbee unit, 5th graders focus on teamwork, spatial awareness, and conflict resolution. They learn frisbee mechanics, including backhand and forehand throws, while applying these skills to game strategy. Students also practice officiating games, fostering sportsmanship and fun competition.
7th Grade Salsa Rueda
7th graders learn Salsa Rueda, blending physical activity with their studies in Spanish, PE, and Drama. Through dynamic movements, students enhance coordination, rhythm, and stamina. This community-focused dance encourages partner switching with a caller, creating a lively atmosphere that keeps everyone engaged.
8th Grade Rock Climbing
Our 8th graders have a blast in their rock climbing unit at a local climbing gym. They grip, belay, and conquer cruxes as they learn new skills and stretch themselves.
